I am using g77-0.5.23 Fortran on a PC, running windows/dos. I have problems reading and writing binary files, both sequential and direct access files. I have checked the programs, compiled them with an old fortran version I have and they work. I have been using GNU fortran for about one year; I've had this problem before, and I circumvented it using only ascii files. G77 has been very useful for me. Although I could continue with workaround, I would like to solve this issue, as I think it may have to do with one of the options in the compilation. I went trough almost all the help and info files, but didn't succeed in understanding what happens. Might it be a library/ies problem? Installation problem? I've tried both djgpp and cygwin environments. I would very much appreciate if you can help me with this. Regards, Marta -- Marta E.
