Allegro 3.9.40 WIP has been released and is available at SourceForge:
  http://sourceforge.net/projects/alleg/

It is considered beta quality on the platforms targeted for the 4.0 release
(including DJGPP). Barring any major problem, the next release will be 4.0
final.

Allegro 4.0 is aimed at being source-compatible with Allegro 3.x on every
supported platform.

DJGPP specific issues:
This version requires DJGPP 2.0x, Binutils 2.9.x or later, gcc 2.9x. It
won't properly compile with gcc 3.0.x (0 <= x <= 2) with full optimization.

Changes between 3.12 and 3.9.40 WIP (DJGPP port):
- 256x256 tweaked VGA mode
- PSX, N64 joypads support
- multisystem 9-pin connectors joysticks (Atari, Commodore 64, MSX) support
- IF-SEGA /PCI, /PCI2, and /ISA joystick interface cards support

- WSS (Windows Sound System) cards support
- keyboard repeat rate control
- refresh rate control through VESA 3.0

- many GUI improvements
- many bugfixes
- cross-compilation support on Linux machines
- Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Portuguese, Slovak, Polish translations
