Paul, you don't really expect anyone to read 600-odd lines of intertwined code, do you? Since you obviousy already spent quite some time playing and debugging this code, it would be much more efficient if you simply told what you already know, in as much detail as you can, sparing us all the other clutter. Specifically, I don't understand what is the problem you are trying to solve here. Is it the fact that there are NaNs in your program, or how NaNs are handled? If the latter, it's a very messy area, and you are in for a bumpy ride; might as well reconsider whether at all get into that trouble. (And yes, I did read the comments near the DEBUG markers.)
