There is a hook in the djgpp libc which makes it possible to handle special file names like /dev/null transparently. I think your problem is that there is something wrong with your bash. DJGPP apps should grok /dev/null with no problem. Maybe there is a utility in your PATH which gets called instead of a djgpp utility? Btw, as there is no support for long file names under NT for dos applications, you should unpack the source using djtar. It will not work otherwise.
