It seems to me that exchanging systems files from C:\ with files from "Emergency Boot Diskette" should do the trick, but this must be done very easily and very safe because if we loose those files we need to find a good boot diskette and repair those files back. I tried to place system files from that emergency disk to local disk D: (e.g. making D: a system disk) then marking D: as an active partition, but this didn't work for some reason. Probably because D: is far away from the beginning of the disk and standard old BIOS functions can not reach that place. But I don't know for sure. -- Alexei A.
