I regret raising this alarm.  I determined that collect2 was corrupted
(ie. 812 bytes in size).  copying from by install zip

What helped lead to this confusing issue is that I made a small @file for an
rsxntdj app as I had no large djgpp-only apps to test, and the rsxntdj
compile-link stages did not include collect2!
