I think this issue is too complicated for the FAQ. The "g" vs "r" might see simple, but there are lots and lots of other similar pitfalls, and there's no reason why they, too, shouldn't be mentioned. I think this is a topic for a good tutorial. There's already a tutorial on this, it just needs work to make it better and more complete. Volunteers are welcome to improve the tutorial and send in the patches.
