Let's not discuss *anything* beyond how MS opertaing systems interact with DJGPP. Please??? As for the original question: most of the ``devil''-like approach you've seen is from off-topic messages. If you confine yourself to relevant messages only (those which have any relevance to DJGPP), you will see that the only problem we have with MS is that they leave bugs in their OSes which are hard or impossible to work around. As relevant examples, consider the DPMI-related bugs in the NT DOS box (see section 3.3 of the DJGPP FAQ for the gory details), the fact that DOS box on Windows 9X and NT loses resources such as selectors, and other Windows-related atrocities. I suggest to search the FAQ for more evidence.
