I did a complete format of the disk and then installed Win2000, and it works like a dream. It's fast and reliable, and one application crashing doesn't bring down the whole system. One disadvantage is the boot-up time, which takes quite a while, but it has the Hibernate mode, where if you choose hibernate instead of Shut Down, the memory is written to disk, and then it boots up in 15 seconds when you switch back on. Quite impressive. > Also there were a lot of problems with various hardware drivers (the > SBLive is one ex) designed for NT4.0 which caused 2000 profeesional > to give the blue screen of death :-( Well the SB Live driver included with Win2000 works fine. It autodetected all my hardware with no problems at all. (I was using build 2183 and now 2195, maybe you have an early beta?) IMO, Win2000 is good value for money.
