Jude,

   HIMEM.SYS is indeed autoloaded with Win95/98.

   To explicitly inhibit this, which I've done in some MSDOS
shortcuts in Win95 where I've needed to have a "clean" boot,
the line:

                    DOS=NOAUTO

must appear in the CONFIG.SYS for that session.
