It depends not only on the hardware! BGI is horrible compared to Allegro in terms of speed! It had a nasty interface and was slow (I'm using past tense here because I hope nobody is using it anymore). Comparing Allegro to BGI is like comparing a Lamborghini to a Fiat Cinquecento (I hope I spelt it correct)(don't want to offend any owners of this car, though!).
