Well, actually it works in VGA, SVGA supported via SVGAlib or Framebuffer, and it looks like will support X too. But enough talk, go to http://www.sunsite.auc.dk/allegro/wip.html and try it out yourself. Note: people seem to have problems with Allegro/SVGAlib. Framebuffer seems to work better.
