Yes, there are those > people who want a VCR with 5 million features and have the time and willingness > to read a thick manual to try and understand how to use it VCR users are hardly comparable, as a group, to programmers. The C++ language is many times more complex than RHIDE -- if you can deal with one, you should be able to deal with the other. > RHIDE, frustrated users post frequent questions to which they are mostly > referred to FAQ's as if the questions are inconsequential or bothersome). Actually, I think they're referred to the FAQ list because it has a solution to their problem. - - - As you say, to each his own. Let those who like DFE use it, and those who like other editors use those. I personally have no problem at all with DFE or the fact that people use it (actually, I even plug it to my students), but I really dislike the way some DFE lobbyists put down RHIDE. This is both unpolite and unuseful. I say: make DFE at least as good as RHIDE -- or at least make it a true IDE -- before you brag about it. Or, preferably, don't brag about it at all. If DFE is as good as you say, people will try it, use it, and plug it to their friends. And if RHIDE is as bad as you say, people will stop using it very soon.
