This will most likely just be a hobby and not a career pursuit. I recently purchased "Sam's Teach Yourself C++ in 24 Hours". It included a CD with the DJGPP compiler. While I can't really comment on the book at this point I'm writing this general post because I'm barely into chapter one and I'm already stuck. The reason is the DJGPP Compiler. I've spent several hours so far trying to figure out exactly how I'm suppose to make it work. Obviously if someone has never done any programming it would stand to reason that they would not know a compiler from a composter, that person being me for example :). The only setup and use instructions seem to be those provided in the readme files which seem less than friendly for the novice, in my opinion. I have installed the DJGPP compiler and I'm gathering from the readme files that I must be in DOS to use it, although it gave me several choices for OS's when I setup the install. I selected 98, which is what I'm using. I ’m not that familiar with DOS and it's been several years since I really used it much at all. It appears the author of the readme file makes the assumption that anyone using this compiler is knowlegable with DOS. Any help that could be rendered would be most appreciated. Thanks, Pete
