I had the same problem...and it drove me nuts, and I almost posted asking
for help, but then the gods shined upon me and the FAQ was delivered unto
me.  This may or may not be your problem but did you name your file with a
.c  or .cc extension?   Cause if you named it with a .c  you may want to try
it with a .cc
