This seems very strange. Not at all. The poster forgot to "strip" the binaries before comparing the sizes. The other way is to use "-s" when linking the programs using gcc/c++/etc. >Cygnus is covered by the GPL, or Berkely style licence I believe. Cygnus is probably covered more by venture capitalists than the GPL ;-) Cygwin is released under the GPL, not Berkeley style license; however, there are components in the whole Cygwin distribution that are covered by BSD style copyrights. btw, someone mentioned a hefty Cygwin DLL; I see mine to be roughly 450k, which IMO doesn't fit into the "hefty" category that well. Both Cygwin and RSXNTDJ have pros and cons, and I would recommend taking a close look at both before dismissing either. Regards, Mumit
