If yes, you might read the DJGPP FAQ about the LFN problems and the RHIDE doc about installing RHIDE on those systems. But if you are running under pure plain DOS, I can't imagine this, except, that you expect to get any message in french, but the person who did the first french translation has not coninued the work, so many strings are not translated.
