The following routine .globl _test _test: fldl 4(%esp) /* as.exe 2.7 doesn't like this comment */ ret produces the message test.s: Assembler messages: test.s:3: Error: Ignoring junk '(%esp) ' after expression Version 2.8.1 has no problems with this. I tried capitalizing the extension: as test.S -o test.o but this didn't solve the problem. Is there any way of making comments compatible with older versions? The docs for "as" say that the #-style comment is deprecated, so I'm not sure I should use that, either. I think this is a bug in 2.7, but I'd like to find a work-around. -Eric Rudd rudd AT cyberoptics DOT com
