Actually, I have run with a RAMDRIVE under DOSEMU and a typical job runs about twice as fast. If I redirect the output to 'nil', nothing much seems to change (except there is no screen output). So it looks like the int's and accompanying real/protected mode switching is the problem. I'm still pursuing a solution.
