Hmm... I think these values are wrong. What switchs did you used for djgpp? > I wanted to know that if watcom > supports intel style of assembly and it's also a 32 bit protected mode > compiler and it is also better in many other ways like optimisation and code > size then why is DJGPP so popular. DJGPP programs aren't greater than Watcom, the first reason is that any Watcom program needs the extender and normally it means 240Kb. Additionally you can compress the djgpp exe files. In speed I saw small differeneces, some times in favor of djgpp, normally Watcom programs are marginally faster and some times they are faster, but never numbers like you say. DJGPP is popular because: 1) The cost is 0 vs ??? U$S. 2) The support for djgpp is the newsgroup and works very well. I never saw such a support from a PC software company (I used Borland products). 3) You get all the sources of the libraries, that's very important for most of the serious applications. If you don't have the sources you must live with the bugs in the libraries and that's impossible to tolerate. 4) I don't know about the Watcom's IDE but some people asked about using RHIDE (one of the djgpp IDEs) for Watcom so I think Watcom's DOS IDE is very bad. 5) DJGPP is much better for ports from and to UNIX and that's important. etc, etc. That's why is popular.
