DJGPP, when installed correctly, lists something like c:/djgpp/bin/cpp.exe. What's probably happening is that you didn't set the DJGPP environment variable (or set it incorrectly), and gcc is relying on the PATH to find its subprograms, and you have a copy of Borland C installed on your PATH. Once gcc is running, the DPMI server is in 32-bit mode, and it can't run Borland's 16-bit CPP program, which also uses DPMI.
