We've already got that working: Ove Kaaven had modified DXEGEN to output a VBE/AF driver format, and I'm right now in the middle of filling in all the API routines. I'm just making a dummy driver that sits on top of VESA, translating VBE/AF calls into their VESA equivalents, so other people can later just replace my VESA calls with chipset-specific code. It seems to be working quite well: it can already set a 640x480 mode from the Allegro test.exe, and the SciTech vbetest program is able to load my driver and find out what modes it supports, but then crashes whenever it tries to set a video mode :-) Hopefully I'll have a finished version by the middle of next week, at which point people can start modifying it to support individual cards. -- Shawn Hargreaves - shawn AT talula DOT demon DOT co DOT uk - http://www.talula.demon.co.uk/ "Pigs use it for a tambourine" - Frank Zappa
