Is just the output format of ld. DJGPP is configured to generate COFF binaries, 
you can find more info about the format in the DJ's page 
(http://www.delorie.com). Is simply an old UNIX format for executables. DJGPP 
uses a loader (2Kb stub) to load the COFF file in memory and run the code.
