In a similar vein, if you close something and then reopen it directly instead of through the Closed list, it won't find it if you highlight an error or traceback line from it, and what's more, if you then hit enter, it opens a second copy of the file! This, I can imagine, could cause quite a synchronization problem if you don't notice it and close one of them.
