I have a large experience in adding and chanching SIMMS configurartion. First, it's may be critical on such an 'old' system like yours what kind of SIMMS are already installed and a type of new SIMMS. The most bad thing is what old SIMMS are 70ns speed and new are 60ns speed and your systemboard doesn't support both of them at the same time. Second, as I reilised from your post, you have 8 slots for 30 pin SIMMS. Perhaps, you buy 30pin EDO-RAM SIMMS. May be this is a problem. Check out your system board manual for supporting types of RAM. Another potential problem is jumpers :( But I saw them only on very old PC, so probably this is not a couse of problem. Also some brand named PC such as DELL, Bull or Compaq has it's own type of SIMMs, so be care with it ! Perhaps, your system board has a 5V on SIMMS slot and new SIMMs are 3V and vica-versa. And the last one, you wrote - > A couple of times I was taken to Setup on bootup > with a "memory mismatched" message but don't think that should be > required. If so, all previous things are useless and only thing you have to do is enter CMOS setup and exit with saving, no additional changes required. Good luck ! -- Regards, Dim Zegebart, Moscow Russia.
