I started printing out the values of wordlist [1] on each pass. even when there wasn't supposed to be anything there yet. I printed it out just before and then again after i allocated the space for the each string. Each time I allocated new space, it's value changed. even after it was given it's own new space. once i allocated space for the next string, the last character of wordlist [1] was corrupted. I ended up fixing the problem by compiling it on MS Visual C++ 5 ;) I had no problems then. I ran into this problem before and have yet to find a solution. If you have any ideas as to why my memory is being corrupted let me know. Thanx again. David Rager PS Please reply here and e-mail the reply to my address. I can never tell when I'll get a chance to stop back here ;) Thanx. -- David J. Rager University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown e-mail: djrst14 AT pitt DOT edu Internet: http://www.pitt.edu/~djrst14
