Did you set TMPDIR in the environment to point to that RAM disk? The default value (in DJGPP.ENV) sets it to %DJDIR%/tmp, which is on your hard disk. You need to override that. My measurements indicate that a RAM disk speeds up compilation by about 20%. Also, 4MB disk cache is IMHO too small for a 32MB machine. 5 or 6MB is better.
