What if it gets huge? If you have >8 MB of memory, then it should be enough. As I recall Linux takes about 800 kb of memory (I'm not sure of that number). And when you add a better filesystem, add some direct supports (/dev/xxx) and then to get a bit more power, leave a bit downward compatibility out, and bingo! You've got Linux! But, yes. Even I think a DOS32 would be a good idea. Only you should be sure that all "normal" dos progs work on it. Including of course protected mode progs.
