I have volumes 1, 2, and 3. Volume 3 is entitled "Sorting and Searching". The lack of volumes 4-7 is rather a story of itself. Apparently Knuth was dissatisfied with the typesetting done for the series, and decided to write his own typesetting language during a sabbatical. This was TeX. It turned out to be a somewhat larger project than he had anticipated. :-) He evidently decided to concentrate on it, and the /The Art of Computer Programming/ was backgrounded until it ceased to be a priority.
