In general, it's not a good idea -- your program will be much harder to debug and there are no speed increases that I can see. After all is said and done, a computer can only send information along a bus as fast as it can send data across a bus. ;-) Which isn't as fast as most of us would like in the case of 386's/486's and SVGA resolutions.
