Are you sure you have the latest FAQ release (2.10)? Because it has this entry in the index (at the end of the FAQ): * GCC aborts with "Installation problem, cannot exec as": Section 6.4. So your answer is in section 6.4 of the FAQ. I suggest you always look up your problems in the index if the table of contents won't help: that's what the indices are for. A lot of effort went into indexing the FAQ.
