I agree with wanting to use the acceleration, but just like john carmack did not build any hardware acceleration in Quake because the market is too fragmented. I beleive all we can do is hope that the new vesa standard will start to incorpaorate this for dos. VBE/AF 2.0 will have 3d functionality. Could be a ways off though.
