All I 'twould be nice, but not quite as trivial as you make it seem :-) You have to be a win32 program in order to use DirectX, not a DOS app, so Allegro would need to be ported to Windows. This would involve a major rewrite of all the graphics drivers, sound drivers, and IO routines.
