I've recently decided to build myself a 'proper' development system since I've been limping along with an old version of Visual C for ages, I decided on DJGPP (for obvious reasons) as the compiler, I'm settled on Allegro as my graphics library (it seems the most capable and looks from first impressions to be quite stable and with a decent performance), I'm now looking at music drivers. I did write my own in assembly years ago (for PC versions of Sensi Soccer, Alien Breed, Chaos Engine) but they were a bit noddy (main target being Adlib music with SoundBlaster FX). Anyone on thoughts as to the best (easiest) sound system to use with DJGPP & Allegro (I'm using 2.2 beta) ? From those I've looked at, the MIDAS sound system looks to have the most accessible API, I only downloaded it yesterday, has anyone got this working? Anything to look out for?? Also, for those who dont have the C++ libraries of DJGPP enabled, just a quick tip that to build the latest Allegro 2.2 beta fully, you'll need to remove the 'setup' program from the makefile.
