Funny enough though, my TV does have a feature which > turns it off after you haven't switched stations for a settable amount > of time. The feature can be disabled though. A modem will be hung up due to in activity not by a setting on your side, but your ISP giving you the boot. They do not want someone taking up one of their phone lines if they are not using it, so usually they will have some sort of idle timeout limit. When a packet is not generated for this time limit, your connection is severed. :)
