Allegro is a supremely cool, professional-quality graphics library designed for DJGPP v2.01. Its source distribution can be found at the following URLs: ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2tk/alleg21.zip ftp://x2ftp.oulu.fi/pub/msdos/programming/djgpp2/alleg211.zip Note that even though the dates and version numbers on the zipfiles are different, they both contain the same version of Allegro (don't ask; it's a long story). Once you've downloaded Allegro, you'll need to build it. Allegro requires that you have installed both the minimum C and C++ DJGPP packages, as well as GNU Make (v2gnu/mak375b.zip). First, unzip the distribution (preserving directory structure) in a separate directory (it is not recommended that you use your main DJGPP directory). Then go to that directory and type "make". Voila! You should be up and running. To use Allegro with your programs, include the header file and be sure to link with the '-lalleg' switch. For more information, see the Allegro documentation, or email Shawn Hargreaves, the author of Allegro. Good luck! -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- | John M.
