To: djgpp-announce AT delorie DOT com Subject: ANNOUNCE: TAP (again :) Message-ID: <19961227.232135.4975.0.chambersb@juno.com> From: chambersb AT juno DOT com (Benjamin D Chambers) Date: Fri, 27 Dec 1996 02:17:32 EST To avoid further burdening this mailing list, I would appreciate everyone who wishes to beta test TAP to mail me and let me know. This will be the last post concerning TAP until the final release. What is TAP? TAP is the Texture Additions Package for Allegro. It contains many functions which will not be useful to most people, due to their being either special-cases or unnecessary. It is not a stand-alone package, but builds on everything in Allegro. What version is TAP? The current version is beta 0.1, although beta 0.2 should be ready in a few days. What features are included? Current (as of beta 0.1): Gouraud triangles, *some* texture mapped triangles, *some* translucent texture mapping, and *some* gouraud shaded texture mapping. What features are being worked on? Quads (should be ready by 0.2 or 0.3), and various combinations of the other functions (ie, gouraud shaded translucencies, et cetera). Anything (and I mean ANYTHING) else people think would be useful. Why should I use TAP? If you think your current routines are good enough, don't. The point of TAP is that I'll be spending my time doing nothing but optimizing these routines for as much speed as possible - often at the expense of size. For this reason, TAP probably shouldn't be used in programs that need to be kept small. Sorry for the clumsiness of these postings (it's the first time I've contributed :) Again, this is the last post until the final release. If you wish to beta test, let me know and I'll periodically mail updates to you. ...Chambers "I think, therefore I am.
