To have DJGPP recognize long file names, you can,

1. Type 
  set LFN=Y
at the command prompt,
2. Place this in your autoexec.bat file so it is set all the time, or
3. in your DJGPP.ENV file, change +LFN=N to +LFN=Y.

Depending on what you are doing, you may have to follow the 
instructions for changing a setting in the registry outlined in 
Section 8.2 of the FAQ.  Regardless, you will want to get the FAQ and 
read it carefully.  You can find it at the same place you found 
DJGPP.
