Well, even if gcc did use pipes, DOS itself uses temporary files to store the data in a pipe, so there would be zero net gain in speed. Perhaps under a multitasking shell like bash, supporting -pipe might be an option, but until bash becomes both more stable and more universal, it's not worth the effort. -- John M.
