In fact I've read all around about DJGPP, but I still don't know what it means. > I only know that it has something to do with programming... DJGPP is a freeware port to MS-DOS of the GNU C/C++ compiler and associated utilities. It runs in 32-bit protected mode, and has some of the best user support in existence in the form of this newsgroup and the associated mailing list (djgpp AT delorie DOT com). As Robert posted, the best source for information is the source itself, http://www.delorie.com/djgpp/. If you are interested in obtaining DJGPP, go to ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2/ and get the file "readme.1st", which gives a great number of details and tells you how to go about downloading and installing DJGPP. Another excellent resource for learning about DJGPP is the Frequently Asked Questions list (ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2/faq202b.zip). It comes in text, HTML, and info (a hypertext document reader that comes with DJGPP) formats. The first 4 or 5 chapters should give you more than enough information on what DJGPP is and why it is so much better than anything else out there. :) P.S.: The name "DJGPP" comes from the initials of its creator, _DJ_ Delorie, plus "_G_NU C++ (_p_lus _p_lus)", or GPP.
