I have had the same problem.  You need to use -lalleg.  I don't know where
to it in RHIDE, but if you get a DOS prompt, type:
    gcc -o ex1.exe ex1.c -lalleg
I hope somebody can help you on RHIDE, but if you don't get an answer soon,
use the command line.
