What date is less.exe you are using?  If it is before October 28, get the 
latest lss321b.zip and install it.  There was a bug in the DJGPP library 
which had particularly nasty effect on Less.  If you already have the 
latest version, please describe the problems a bit more precisely (I find 
it hard to understand what does ``might work, might be some trouble'' 
mean).

NTEmacs is not part of DJGPP, so I would not know what might be the 
trouble here.  `M-x grep' works all the time from Emacs compiled with 
DJGPP.
