Thinking about what Eli said, it might be as simple as a query and a run
off of the manifest file.  This seems like functionality which should be
added either to the installer or to a separate "uninstall" program. 
Actually, perhaps the best overall way would be to code the uninstaller
into the install program and make "uninstal" run install.
