Yes; it's a different clock altogether (the PC's MHz clock is, also, a clock, but usually referred to as something like the CPU clock or bus clock to avoid confustion :-) >> P.S. Try looking for the PC Games Programmer's Encyclopaedia (these things are important to games programmers above all, and you'll probably find some other interesting tidbits!). Erm... search around x2ftp,oulu.fi for pcgpe10.zip, or use good 'ol Archie to find that filename. >Many thanks for your reply. This has been a quite confusing issue for me. Enjoy your entry into the world of PC hardware :-) I've an old library I wrote for TC++ (read: real mode) which deals with most of the PC's support chipset, if you want reference code. Nearly all of it, except for the DMA routines and interrupt routines, will work directly with DJGPP. I will probably port the interrupt controller bits to DJGPP and put them in libints for the general public enjoyment. No, I haven't forgotten about libints! Version 2 is fast becoming vapourware, but in a few week's time, I'll have got university application out of the way, and will have signficant spare time again!
