This sounds like a built-in extension : expectation issue (quite common with BCC images, for example). It may be : using some other library or extender which expects extension. I have been : thinking about providing a PM TSR which hooks int 21 to provide extension : where needed, but it's not very high on my priority list. To attempt an answer: the manual for Image Alchemy PS 1.8 states that "DOS/4GW is the DOS Extender used by Alchemy PS," a sentence which begins an 11-page appendix on "Configuring DOS/4GW Pro." It is bound, I believe, to the executable ALCH386.EXE. If only I were better informed about protected mode -- as I should be -- I could likely be more helpful.
