I just downloaded and installed grx20 on my system.  All the test programs
compiled perfectly out-of-the-box, and when I tried to use make to rebuild
the distribution, it too seemed to be working perfectly.  I examined my
copies of all the makefiles included with the distribution and found nothing
unusual whatsoever.

All that's left that I can think of is that you may have a bad distribution?
You did unzip grx20.zip with the -d option, right?  The files need to be in
the correct directories to function.
