There is a file in the djgpp distribution called 'readme.1st'. If you read it it specifically tells you that you need a DPMI host to run djgpp. This means running under Windows 3.1/95 DOS box, QDPMI, 386max, Linux dosemu, etc. To run under vanilla DOS, you can download this free DPMI host provided for DJGPP: ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/gnu/djgpp/v2misc/csdpmi3b.zip BTW, the FAQ _does_ tell you about DPMI - just look up the error message!
