Date: Thu, 15 Aug 1996 12:36:29 +1000 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I've been playing with RSXNTDJ on Win95 a bit, and am beginning to discover its limitations. Quite a few functions don't seem to have been included in the headers/libraries. This raised the issue of importing functions from third party DLLs, and then using them in my own programs. Other compilers generally provide an import librarian that allows developers to create the appropriate library (.LIB format) for a DLL, and then just link to the library to use the DLLs functions. Is an equivalent Import Librarian available that produces .A format libraries, rather than .LIB format libraries? If not, is one in the pipeline? This might also speed up development of RSXNTDJ, as more people will be creating the libraries and header files for a greater variety of Win32 components. I'm dying to be able to use DirectX with DJGPP! :) BTW, I've been very impressed by RSXNTDJ (and DJGPP too, of course). Although I haven't done anything amazingly tricky with it yet, I ported a simple Win3.1 puzzle game I wrote a couple of years ago in about 20 minutes (and most of that was spent wrestling with BC++ 3.1s crappy auto-created makefile).
