I have now had a chance to take a look at the beta2 for NT4.0 and I checked that the LFN API is not available, even though NT4.0 supports both the VFAT and NTFS filesystems, which both support long filenames with upper/lowercase. Since this is available in Win95, I'm not sure if this is intentional, obviously this is a way to discourage DOS compatibility (you have to use a win32 compiler), but given that the win32 port of gcc isn't finished yet, djgpp is the only free compiler for porting unix console applications to NT, so not being handicapped by the ~n filename would be a big plus. bye, Alexander -- Alexander Lehmann, | "On the Internet, alex AT hal DOT rhein-main DOT de (plain, MIME, NeXT) | nobody knows lehmann AT mathematik DOT th-darmstadt DOT de (plain) | you're a dog."
