Does this happen to you for any patch script, or just for some? The version of `patch' that comes with stock DJGPP v2.0 has some problems, but they usually only happen for certain (multifile, multidirectory) patch scripts; these problems will be corrected in the next release. If you get errors like the above for every patch job, then something might be wrong with your installation. If it happens only for specific scripts, I can tell you where to get a prerelease of a corrected version you might try.
